Subject Matter:“Valor” is a look back to Susan’s carousel horse images created from 1988 – 2004. This image of a carousel horse suited up in medieval armor was one that she had imagined, but as she got busy with adult life and its many responsibilities, existed only in the drawing board of the mind. Here we see a close-up image of Valor, escaping from the darkened carousel, across a calm beach, under a starry sky. This piece is one of a series of images of carousel horses created to complete the 10-piece set titled El Camino” (The Path).
