Our 1800 sf. studio in Cumming, GA is suitably equipped for a variety of printmaking specializations. While our main focus is on intaglio printmaking, we also have equipment and tools for lithography, alternative photo printing, and picture framing.
Our classic Charles Brand etching press features a 36 x 60 steel bedplate. Ideal for intaglio printing processes that require very high pressure.
Our motorized Conrad convertible press with 27 x 48 bedplate is easily adjusted to handle intaglio, monoprint, or lithographic printing. Our Tennsmith metal shear cuts plates up to 48 inches wide.
A large space featuring multiple work surfaces, 18 x 24 industrial hotplate, large sink, and 36 x 42 Nuarc light table for backlit image viewing. Transmission and reflection densitometers are available for analyzing ink density on film and on paper.
This climate-controlled workspace features a nine-foot wash-out sink, overhead plumbing, Hass water mixing valve, Nuarc 1 KS exposure unit, electronic hygrometer, chemical refrigerator, and ample work surfaces for tissue and plate processing.
The digital darkroom features Mac and Windows workstations, a 24 in. 4k pen tablet for image editing, a 48 in. Epson printer converted to selenium ink set (6 channels) for photogravure film printing. Creative Software: Photoshop, Lightroom, Topaz (Gigapixel, DeNoise, Studio 2), Midjourney, QuadToneRIP.
The framing studio features equipment for cutting mats, glass and acrylic, shrink-wrapping, and cutting and joining frame moldings. We also maintain a selection of antique wooden frames that we use for photogravure presentation.
